Decades theme at The Friday Mashup!

I am hosting this week over at The Friday Mashup and I thought it would be fun to try and incorporate the styles of a particular decade into projects.

I used some absolutely amazing digital stamps from Some Odd Girl to create these three little note cards. They all have a fun little saying inside.

Too Cute to Spook for Colour Me...!

Well folks, it has been far too long since I posted on my blog. I've finally found my crafting mojo... Not too long ago, I ran into a friend of mine at my (somewhat) local craft store, and how unlikely it was since she's not even from here! Sharing in the excitement of new goodies and talking about techniques really got me inspired again.

One item I added to my stash is making an appearance on this card for the latest Colour Me...! challenge. I'm very quickly falling in love with distress inks.

This project started with this absolutely darling little witchy Wryn from Tiddly Inks. I didn't quite get the blend I wanted to on her robe, so I added some stars and sparkle with a white gel pen. Then I sat and stared for a few days before I could decide on the background!

I sketched out this little cauldron and was going to piece together a little scene, but decided instead that I'd add some distress inks to the pot and the background, and use my Copics to sketch in a little cobblestone ground.

A little Christmas Joy for The Friday Mashup!

This week at The Friday Mashup we have a fun sketch with the added challenge of trying out the inlaid die cutting technique. I absolutely love this effect, but up to this point, haven't tried it out!

I had a bunch of ideas on what I wanted to do (a list of about 5-6 different plans!), but decided on this design because I loved the sparkle paper SO much!

I coloured this darling little digi fairy from Make It Crafty a few days ago and was itching to get her on a card.

I love these little bag-in-a-box bags... They are super sweet and really great for giving small gifts. I hope to make a few of these to give teach gifts this Christmas.

Going Fishing for The Friday Mashup!

Monochromatic for Colour Me...!

It's monochromatic week at Colour Me...! and we're using Mossy Meadow.

I will admit, I find green to be one of the hardest colours to use! But Mossy Meadow has such a vintage winter/christmas feel to it, that I immediately went 'there'.

Back to School for The Friday Mashup!

Hello and welcome to a new challenge here at The Friday Mashup! This week Breelin has us going back to school (is it really that time already?!)

My (little) baby is starting kindergarten this year and I've been a bit emotional about it. Sheesh, I thought the first one was hard - but knowing that I'm sending my baby is proving to be challenging as well!

I wanted to make him a little card for his lunch (as I do for the older dude as well), and this is what I came up with. I had tons of fun with this crayon die from Taylored Expressions!

Good Wednesday morning!

I made this card for a colleague of mine who had held me with my computer issues yesterday.

 

 

I used the super fun "Boom!" set from Your Next Stamp again (love this set!). It is so playful and versatile.

 

Please excuse the terrible photos these days - I really need to find a better solution for my photographs, but with the house preparations it appears to be a bit more challenging than I had thought.

A little luck for Colour Me...!

This week at Colour Me...! we are going Striking and using some really fresh colours; Tangerine Tango and Cucumber Crush!

This little lady is called "Lucky Tara" and I just couldn't resist her! Aside from sharing the same name, she's absolutely darling. I've recently become absolutely addicted to Make It Crafty and their gorgeous stamps. I have a whole line up of Christmas cuties as I prepare for Kathy R's 30 day colour challenge in October :)

Speaking of colour challenges... while we all anxiously await October, Kathy has a super fun 4-day pop up challenge!

Thinking about the fair at The Friday Mashup!

This week at The Friday Mashup, Lisa is our hostess and she has us thinking about the fair! We don't have 'state' fairs around here (mainly because we don't have states, I guess, haha), but going to our county fair was always the highlight of my summer/fall.

In fact, the first year I ever missed going to my hometown fair was when I was giving birth to my youngest son. Now, he usually celebrates his birthdays at the fairgrounds :)

With all that being said, I had a hard time deciding what to do for my project this week. I wanted to incorporate cotton candy and the 'prizes' you win from the games. I decided to try my hand at drawing my own image for this challenge. I call her Cotton Candi. She's a bit angrier than I had intended her to look though!

Grateful stained glass for Colour Me...!

This week at Colour Me...! we are going subtle and using Watermelon Wonder, Pear Pizzazz, and Soft Sky.

I bought this stamp set a long time ago from my local craft store, and have yet to really use it. It was the best $2.98 I've ever spent! The lovely stained glass images are just gorgeous, and so much fun to colour. 

I realized only as I was writing this post that my watermark covers the sentiment, which reads "incredibly grateful for you".

Ant Family Picnic for Friday Mashup!

Good Friday morning, friends. This week at The Friday Mashup we are feeling the summer breeze and heading out for a picnic!

I started with this absolutely adorable image from 2CuteInk. I coloured it (very simply) with Copics and backed it with some Wild Wasabi CS from Stampin' Up! The Honeycomb DSP in the background is from Echo Park "Fine and Dandy" collection and I just adore it. The flipside of this is a sweet little buzzing bee design.

I finally broke down and bought this super fun set from Tim Holtz. I'd seen it around blogland for so long and just loved it, so when I spied it at my local craft store I just had to snatch it up.

Celebrate with a Bang!

I'm super excited to be hosting over at The Friday Mashup this week!

I have so many fun embellishments that I can spend all day trying to decide which one to use on a project... only to end up not using any! So this week, I've challenged you to make a cluster of embellishments on your card somewhere (and mash it up with some ombre effects if you'd like!)

I started by creating the ombre background with some copics and then got busy with the embellishments. That cute little dynamite dude is from Your Next Stamp's "Boom!" set and is absolutely darling. 

I filled up my cluster with a silver glimmer film frame, a start cut from bokeh DSP, a super bright orange arrow, some twine, a few candy dots, and some of the square glimmer bits from the film frame cutout.

Watercolour Butterflies for Colour Me...!

I found a box of watercolours while cleaning out our basement, so I thought I would give them a try. (not so) Subtle 'Thanks' for Colour Me...!

Hello! We have a super fun subtle colour combo this week at Colour Me...!. We are also having a Design Team call, so if you or someone you know would like to be part of the Colour Me...! Design Team, please head on over!

Our family went to visit my mom and stepdad this past weekend and we had a blast! The boys were overjoyed to be able to spend 3 days with them.

Mom and I had some girl time too (ie: craft store shopping!) and I got my hands on some new Copics and a few new stamp sets.

I wanted to send her a thank you card for making the weekend so special for us, and since we visited an aquarium while we were there, thought this fun set from Your Next Stamp would be the perfect fit!
